Vedantu recorded a 17.6 percent increase in revenue for FY25, reaching Rs 234 crore compared to Rs 199 crore in FY24, as per its consolidated filings with the Registrar of Companies.
The company saw strong growth in its core segments. Revenue from tuition fees rose 18 percent to Rs 196 crore, up from Rs 166.5 crore in the previous year. Income from the sale of goods, including books and uniforms, more than doubled to Rs 22 crore from Rs 9.5 crore. Other operating revenue remained steady at Rs 9 crore during the same period.
On the expenditure side, employee benefit costs continued to dominate, accounting for nearly half of total expenses. These expenses increased 25 percent to Rs 220 crore in FY25 from Rs 176 crore in FY24. Advertising expenses also grew by 17.4 percent to Rs 27 crore, while depreciation costs rose to Rs 69 crore from Rs 58 crore a year earlier. Overall, total expenses climbed 21 percent to Rs 444 crore in FY25.
Despite the rise in revenue, losses expanded during the year. Loss before tax and exceptional items stood at Rs 211 crore in FY25, up 25 percent from Rs 168.5 crore in FY24. However, the company reported exceptional income of Rs 77 crore, which helped reduce net losses to Rs 123 crore.
Founded in 2011 by Vamsi Krishna, Pulkit Jain, and Anand Prakash, the Bengaluru-based firm provides live online tutoring for school students and competitive exam aspirants. The platform uses its proprietary WAVE technology to deliver interactive classes and has also expanded into offline learning through centers across more than 20 cities.
