Sarvam AI Launches ‘Sarvam Edge’, Offline AI Tool Supporting 10 Indian Languages Without Internet

Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam AI has unveiled Sarvam Edge, an offline artificial intelligence tool designed to function without internet connectivity, marking a notable milestone in India’s evolving AI landscape.

Built for high-performance use on smartphones and laptops, Sarvam Edge enables zero-latency speech recognition and text-to-speech across 10 major Indian languages. Unlike widely used cloud-based platforms such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, which require a stable internet connection, Sarvam Edge processes data directly on the device, ensuring uninterrupted performance even in low or no-network conditions.

The launch comes at a time when internet connectivity remains inconsistent in several rural, forested, and hilly regions of India. By enabling AI to run entirely offline, Sarvam AI aims to enhance user privacy, improve processing speed, and ensure reliable access to AI-powered tools regardless of network availability.

Sarvam Edge supports real-time speech recognition with automatic language detection and offers bidirectional translation across 11 Indian languages, including English, covering more than 110 language pairs. The platform also integrates a localized text-to-speech engine capable of delivering instant audio playback in multiple regional languages.

Founded in 2023 by Dr. Vivek Raghavan and Dr. Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI is focused on developing language-first AI systems tailored to India’s diverse linguistic landscape. The company has also been selected under the IndiaAI Mission to build India’s foundational AI model, reinforcing its role in the country’s broader AI ambitions.

With its offline-first approach, Sarvam Edge positions itself as a practical and inclusive solution for millions of users who depend on AI-driven services but may not always have reliable internet access.
