Wipro Showcases Unitree Go2 at India AI Impact Summit Amid Galgotias Robodog Controversy

Indian IT services major Wipro showcased the Unitree Go2 robotic dog at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, days after a similar robot display triggered controversy involving Galgotias University.

The Unitree Go2 is a four-legged, AI-enabled robot developed by Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics. The model is widely used across the globe for research, academic demonstrations and programmable AI applications.

Earlier during the summit, Galgotias University exhibited a similar robotic dog, with a faculty member describing it as an in-house innovation named “Orion.” The claim sparked sharp criticism on social media after users identified the robot as a commercially available Unitree Go2 model rather than a proprietary development.

The university later issued an apology, attributing the confusion to an “ill-informed” representative. It clarified that the exhibit was meant to support student learning initiatives and was not intended to be presented as an original invention. The institution subsequently faced another controversy after a representative reportedly described a soccer drone as an in-house innovation.

Following the developments, S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), asked the university to step out of the exhibition and issued a warning, according to reports.

In contrast, Wipro’s presentation of the Unitree Go2 at the summit was positioned differently. The company did not claim ownership of the hardware but instead used the robot to demonstrate practical AI use cases and enterprise applications.

A video shared by news agency PTI showed a Wipro official explaining the robot’s features, highlighting its role as a programmable AI platform capable of demonstrating autonomy, intelligent navigation and real-world enterprise solutions.

Wipro’s showcase underscored its focus on software capabilities and AI-driven applications, with the robotic dog serving as an interactive tool to illustrate how artificial intelligence can be integrated into business and industrial environments.
