Shanghai-based robotics company DroidUp has unveiled Moya, a humanoid robot capable of walking with natural stability, maintaining eye contact, and displaying subtle facial expressions. The company describes Moya as the world’s first fully biomimetic embodied intelligent robot, built on the concept of embodied artificial intelligence that can perceive, reason, and act within the physical world rather than operating solely in digital environments.
Standing about 5.5 feet tall and weighing 32 kg, Moya is designed with proportions close to an adult human. The robot also maintains a body temperature in the range of 32–36°C, adding to its lifelike presence. According to the company, Moya’s walking posture achieves an accuracy rate of 92 per cent, enabling stable and natural locomotion.
Moya enters a global market where most humanoid robots retain a distinctly mechanical appearance and are largely deployed for factory or industrial tasks. DroidUp aims to differentiate itself through ultra-realistic design and human-like interaction, positioning Moya for roles that require genuine engagement rather than heavy labour or purely domestic use.
The company sees potential applications for Moya in healthcare, education, and commercial environments that demand real human interaction. DroidUp also claims the robot exhibits warm and friendly behaviour, making it suitable for elder care and companionship. Market launch is expected in late 2026, with a starting price of around ¥1.2 million, based on figures cited in an SCMP video, though final details are yet to be confirmed.
