Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has approved an investment of around ₹4,960 crore to set up its second passenger vehicle manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The company’s board has cleared the purchase of land at the Khoraj Industrial Estate near Ahmedabad, marking an important step in expanding its production capacity in India.
The upcoming plant is expected to add an annual production capacity of about 10 lakh vehicles. This expansion comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki’s existing manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Haryana are operating close to full capacity, driven by strong demand in the domestic market.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki operates a major plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat and has plans to add a fourth production line there in the 2026–27 financial year. With the addition of the new Khoraj facility, the company’s total manufacturing capacity in Gujarat is expected to rise significantly once the plant becomes fully operational.
The investment highlights Maruti Suzuki’s long-term growth strategy as it prepares to meet increasing demand in India and strengthen its position in export markets. The new plant is expected to play a key role in supporting the company’s future production and supply requirements.
