Tim Cook has announced that he will step down as the chief executive officer of Apple Inc. later this year, marking a significant leadership transition for one of the world’s most influential technology companies.
In a farewell message, Cook reflected on his tenure, describing it as the greatest privilege of his life. He expressed deep appreciation for Apple’s employees, customers, and partners, emphasizing the collective effort behind the company’s continued success. He highlighted the role of employees in driving innovation and preserving the company’s core values during a period of rapid growth and transformation.
Cook shared that one of his daily routines over the past 15 years was reading messages from Apple users worldwide, an experience he described as deeply humbling. He noted that leading a company that consistently inspires creativity and impacts lives globally has been an unmatched experience.
Under his leadership, Apple significantly expanded beyond its core iPhone business. The company introduced new product categories such as the Apple Watch and AirPods, while also accelerating the growth of its services segment. This strategic diversification played a key role in strengthening Apple’s global market position and increasing its overall valuation.
Looking ahead, Cook expressed confidence in his successor, John Ternus, who is set to take over the role. He described Ternus as a capable leader with a strong understanding of Apple’s vision and culture, adding that the transition comes at a crucial time as the company focuses on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Cook is expected to remain associated with Apple in a different capacity, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in leadership as the company enters its next phase of growth.
