Pincode by Kunal Kapur Expands to Bengaluru with Immersive Heritage Dining Experience

Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur has expanded his signature “Pincode” dining concept to Bengaluru, introducing a visually immersive restaurant that blends culinary storytelling with design-led experiences. The new outlet, located at One MG Mall, builds on the brand’s earlier presence in cities like Goa and Dubai.

The Bengaluru restaurant offers a curated menu that spans regional Indian cuisines, taking diners from the streets of Old Delhi to the coastal kitchens of Tamil Nadu. The concept focuses on reinterpreting heritage recipes with a contemporary approach, combining traditional flavours with modern cooking techniques.

Kapur, widely recognised for his role on MasterChef India, described the project as a “labour of love” and an “obsession,” reinforcing his long-standing philosophy of innovation rooted in tradition.

A defining feature of the new outlet is its design narrative, conceptualised as a “visual time capsule.” The space reflects a colonial-regal aesthetic, merging the charm of a vintage Indian home with the sophistication of an old-world club. Interiors feature dark wood-panelled walls adorned with sepia photographs, vintage illustrations, and royal portraits, creating a dense storytelling environment.

The restaurant embraces a maximalist design language, with striped canopy-style ceilings, velvet seating, patterned upholstery, and parquet flooring contributing to a layered, theatrical ambience. Ambient lighting from fringed lamps and ornate chandeliers further enhances the nostalgic setting, evoking the mood of early 20th-century drawing rooms.

Each dish on the menu is linked to a specific region, aligning with Kapur’s belief that culinary innovation must be grounded in cultural origins. The offerings are expected to include both street-style classics and lesser-known regional dishes, alongside modern techniques such as fermentation, charcoal grilling, and dum cooking.

Ahead of its launch, the restaurant has positioned itself as a distinctive dining destination, suggesting that guests may find the experience compelling enough to “cancel their next plan,” highlighting its intent to redefine the typical Bengaluru evening.
