Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Andhra Pradesh for taking the lead in India’s technological progress, saying the state’s youth have always been at the forefront of adopting and developing new technologies.
Speaking about the state’s growing potential, the Prime Minister highlighted the strong partnership between the Centre and the state under the Double Engine Government, which he said is helping accelerate India’s growth journey. Modi reaffirmed that India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 is moving ahead with strength, and that the new Google project will further power this vision.
During his speech, Modi announced that Google will invest around $15 billion to set up India’s first Artificial Intelligence Hub in Visakhapatnam. The Prime Minister said, “When I spoke to Google’s CEO yesterday, he told me that although Google has investments in many countries outside the United States, its largest investment will now be in Andhra Pradesh.”
The ambitious project will include a major data center, advanced energy infrastructure, and undersea cable systems that will link Visakhapatnam with global networks. Modi said this initiative will transform the coastal city into a hub for artificial intelligence and global communication.
Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote, “Delighted by the launch of the Google AI Hub in the dynamic city of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This investment aligns with our vision of a Viksit Bharat. It will help bring AI to everyone and make technology more useful for all.”
Modi also expressed his gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his leadership and support in realizing the project. Experts believe that the new AI hub will create thousands of jobs, boost India’s digital economy, and strengthen the country’s position as a global leader in artificial intelligence.
