India emerging as key growth market for Anthropic, says CEO

US-based artificial intelligence company Anthropic has identified India as a major expansion hub, with CEO Dario Amodei describing the country as a “huge playground” for AI innovation and experimentation. Speaking at the company’s Builder Summit in Bengaluru, Amodei said India’s scale and technical ecosystem make it an ideal environment for rapid AI deployment and testing.

According to the report published by The Financial Express, Anthropic’s revenue run rate in India has doubled over the past four months, making it the company’s largest market outside the United States. The surge is being driven by strong enterprise adoption and high technical usage, particularly in coding and productivity applications.

The company has opened its first India office in Bengaluru as part of its broader expansion strategy. Amodei noted that India’s large developer base and digital infrastructure allow AI systems to be tested at a scale that few other markets can offer.

Several Indian enterprises have already adopted Anthropic’s AI tools. Among them are Air India and Cognizant, which are using AI solutions to enhance operational efficiency and modernise workflows.

Anthropic’s growing presence aligns with India’s push to strengthen its position in the global AI ecosystem, with policymakers and industry leaders exploring regulatory frameworks and innovation strategies to support responsible AI growth.
