India boosts drone security with launch of Indrajaal Ranger

India has taken a major step in strengthening its defence against unmanned aerial threats with the introduction of the Indrajaal Ranger, a mobile anti-drone patrol vehicle developed by Hyderabad-based Indrajaal Drone Defence. The new system enables security forces to detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones while on the move, offering greater protection across borders, cities, and critical infrastructure.

Unlike traditional fixed installations, the Ranger can patrol highways, farmlands, and urban zones, helping prevent smuggling, weapon drops, and surveillance attempts. During the launch, CEO Kiran Raju highlighted the mission behind the innovation, stating that every intercepted drone directly contributes to saving lives and ensuring India’s self-reliance in security.

The vehicle is designed to support police forces, border security teams, and units guarding airports, ports, refineries, and military bases. It integrates long-range detection systems, AI-powered threat analysis, and multiple neutralization options. Its radar and RF sensors can track drones up to 10 km away, while cameras and acoustic sensors provide full 360-degree awareness even in challenging conditions.

Powered by the SkyOS AI platform, the Ranger identifies threats, predicts drone movement, and assesses risk. Its C5ISRT architecture brings together command, communication, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting capabilities. Neutralization techniques include cyber takeover, GNSS spoofing, RF jamming, and interceptor drones for physical engagement.

Built on a rugged 4×4 chassis, the Ranger can operate in deserts, hilly regions, dense cities, and agricultural areas. Multiple units can be networked to secure large zones such as airports and borders. Indrajaal Drone Defence, established in 2023 under Grene Robotics, brings over a decade of expertise in AI and autonomous systems. The founders, Kiran Raju, Sunil Kalidindi, and Wing Commander M.V.N. Sai (Retd.), aim to strengthen India’s homegrown capabilities in drone defence.
