Apple Hits Record $9 Billion Revenue in India, Expands Retail and Production

Apple has achieved its highest-ever revenue in India, crossing nearly $9 billion in fiscal year 2025, a 13% increase from last year. The growth was driven mainly by strong iPhone sales. Data from IDC shows Apple’s shipments in India rose 21.5% in the first half of 2025, with the iPhone 16 becoming the most shipped model. This comes at a time when global smartphone demand is slowing, but India’s market is growing steadily, up 0.9% year-over-year in the first half of 2025 and 7.3% in the second quarter alone.

The tech giant is also expanding its presence in India with new Apple stores in Bengaluru and Pune. More outlets are planned for Noida and Mumbai by early 2026. This retail push is part of Apple’s strategy to strengthen its direct connection with Indian customers and increase its market share in the fast-growing region.

Apple is also deepening its manufacturing base in India, where it now produces one out of every five iPhones sold globally. To further reduce reliance on China amid ongoing US-China tensions, the company is investing $2.5 billion to boost production capacity across its five Indian plants. This expansion aims to raise annual output from 40 million to 60 million iPhones.

In addition to its India strategy, Apple is increasing investment in the United States, committing $600 billion over four years to support job creation and avoid future tariff risks. The company’s next big moment will be its annual fall event on September 9 at the Steve Jobs Theater, where it is expected to unveil new iPhones, Apple Watches, and advanced AI features. Industry rumors also hint at the launch of a slimmer model, possibly called the iPhone Air, following Apple’s Air branding trend.
