Akasa Air Introduces Apple Pay for International Flight Bookings

Akasa Air has announced the introduction of Apple Pay as a payment option on its website and mobile app, becoming the first Indian airline to enable the digital wallet service for cross-border transactions. The move is aimed at making international flight bookings simpler and more secure for travellers using Apple devices.

With this integration, international customers can complete bookings using one-tap payments authenticated through Face ID or Touch ID. The airline said this will help reduce checkout time and minimise payment drop-offs, offering a smoother booking experience for global travellers. The feature has been launched in partnership with Razorpay, which is supporting Apple Pay for cross-border transactions.

Akasa Air said payments play a crucial role in the overall customer journey, particularly for international travel. By adding Apple Pay, the airline aims to provide a familiar and trusted payment option for passengers booking flights to and from India, while continuing to offer multiple payment choices such as UPI, cards, net banking, wallets, EMI and pay-later services for domestic bookings.

Commenting on the launch, Akasa Air Chief Marketing Officer Naarayan T V said the integration strengthens the airline’s digital capabilities and enables secure, frictionless payments for travellers worldwide. Razorpay COO Rahul Kothari said the partnership will help Akasa Air enhance its international payment experience. Launched in August 2022, Akasa Air has carried over 23 million passengers and currently operates 31 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, connecting 26 domestic and six international cities across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
